Dear Friend,
THE MISSION of Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs is to enlarge the global audience for the simple but powerful message that ethics matter, regardless of place, origin, or belief.
And to do that we need your help! We are looking for volunteers to translate selected texts into Chinese (simplified form), French, Russian, and Spanish.
Translators should work in teams of two. Find a partner, or ask us to help you connect with one.
We are also looking for volunteer reviewers to review the finished translations. So each text will be worked on by three people.
Translators and reviewers should be fluent in the written target language and in written English. It would be helpful to have prior experience doing translations and a good knowledge of international relations.
All volunteers will be listed on our website, with a photo (optional) and short personal profile. Thank you in advance for helping us spread the word that ethics matter in international affairs.
This is a pilot project, so we'd like to start with the following texts:
Ethics Primer Parts I and II by Joel Rosenthal, Carnegie Council President
World Poverty and Human Rights by Thomas Pogge, Yale University
The Mystery of Capital by Hernando de Soto Polar, Institute for Liberty and Democracy, Peru (already in Spanish)
Towards Non-Western Histories in International Relations Textbooks by Francis Grice, McDaniel College
However, if there are other Carnegie Council resources you would prefer to translate, please let us know!
To apply, please email mlynn@cceia.org with subject VOLUNTEER TRANSLATOR or VOLUNTEER TRANSLATION REVIEWER.
Tell us a little about yourself, which article you would like work on, and into which language. If you are applying to be a translator, let us know if you need help finding a partner.
