Asia Bridge Fellowship

The Asia Bridge Fellowship offers a special opportunity for recent college graduates to work and learn under the auspices of the Asia Society, one of the leading and most respected global organizations covering the Asia Pacific region.

The Fellowship covers an eight-month period, beginning in September 2019 with orientation at the Society’s global headquarters in New York, to develop an understanding of Asia Society’s history and current work.   The Fellowship continues with time spent working on Asia Society global initiatives, including work in Asia itself. Some of this time will be spent working at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center, the hub of the institution’s Asia-based operations.

Based on their backgrounds, strengths and interests, Asia Bridge Fellows will engage in Asia Society programs and initiatives involving the arts, policy, business, current affairs and education. The work will range from organizing and assisting the execution of public events to drafting written materials to producing videos and blog posts about these events. Fellows will also have opportunities for participation in an array of high-level conferences, symposia and artistic programs to further their learning. There may also be opportunities during the Fellowship to travel to other Asia Society Centers in Asia (Korea, India, Japan, Australia, and the Philippines) and in the U.S. (California, Texas and Washington, DC.).

All travel and housing expenses are covered; there is also a stipend provided for other living expenses.

Candidates must be 21 years of age as of June 1, 2019; they are expected to have shown academic excellence, enthusiasm for global travel and experience, and a capacity to overcome challenges stemming from an upbringing in difficult circumstances.

Applicants should prepare the following:

  • An essay of between 800-1200 words explaining why they feel qualified for consideration, and how they believe they would benefit from the experience;

  • Resume;

  • Names and contacts for two references.

Applications are due April 1, 2019. Decisions will be made in early June.
